About us
I spent nearly a decade in Los Angeles as a 20 something want to be engineer. I had dreams of being the next Quincy Jones. It did not work out the way I had thought, the music business was cool but "The Business of Music" is nasty and I burnt out. I was out of music by 1993 (Thankfully because Alternative is atrocious)
Fast Forward Nov 25th 2018. I had spent a full year discussing with a colleage about starting an Internet radio station. We could never get on the same page and I had bought the beginnings of the equiptment to start the radio station. Thanksgiving 2018 I got tired of waiting and AP Radio went live.
I had been out of music for decades and I was learning about Reverb and Sweetwater and a local music shop run by the bass player for Survivor. One evening on Reverb I searched Tascam MSR-16 and I was blown away that I found several.
And that my friends is how AP Radio & Recording started. 30 plus years post studio career here I am trying to remeber how to record and build a studio. The knowledge was still in the old noggin (I emphasize OLD).
7 years has come and gone and the studio has transformed 3 times to where it is now. I have curated vintage gear that I either worked on in the 80"s or was very familiar with all with the goal to recapture a lost art and sound. Analog breathes where digital does not.
Everything here at AP Radio & Recording is done the vintage way and the music breathes and is full bodied. If you haven't tried recording on tape I can't reccommend it enough. Conatct me and I'll book you you studio time at no cost to you I am that passionate about analog, for me it is the only ay to create music.
